Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Interior Designer with 5+ years of experience in commercial workplace interiors to join their New York team. This position is focused on interior architecture and workplace design, requiring a strong technical and design background in built commercial interior projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading projects from programming through construction administration, developing workplace strategies, and producing high-quality construction documentation for sophisticated office environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial workplace interior design projects from programming through construction administration
- Develop space plans, test fits, and design concepts for workplace environments
- Guide design direction and evaluate solutions based on client goals and project requirements
- Select and specify materials, finishes, furniture, and interior systems
- Produce and oversee construction documentation including plans, elevations, and detailed drawings
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and project teams throughout all project phases
- Support strategic project execution while maintaining high standards of design and technical excellence
- Participate in workplace strategy discussions and research emerging industry trends
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial interior design or interior architecture, preferably workplace interiors
- Strong experience producing construction documents and detailing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required
- Proficiency in Revit required
- Experience with Revit-based 3D modeling and rendering workflows such as Enscape or similar platforms
- Experience working on built commercial interior projects, not solely conceptual design work
- Strong hand sketching and conceptual visualization abilities
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
- Excellent presentation, communication, and project coordination skills
- Strong understanding of workplace planning and commercial interior detailing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing workplace strategies for corporate clients
- Familiarity with hybrid workplace planning, utilization trends, and activity-based work environments
- Interest in researching emerging workplace trends and best practices
- LEED AP and/or WELL AP accreditation preferred
